Finally, I looked more into my favourite kind of games..... 2D!!! yay
Here we go.
Examples on the way:
Aladdin! Really cool jumping techniques based on the basic jump and move mechanic. Also jewells and apples collection and lifes system.
Bit trip runner! Lovely game with mechanics that depending on items you collect, the sounds build up, you get more points and things get way more exciting.
Donkey Kong! Mastered version, mechanic of holding the second character on your back and using his character power.
Mario 2D with 3D aspects! Love it.
Punch Quest is an awesome game. Mechanics of power ups are really amazeballs, and will get you really into it when you ride the Dinosaur with laser eyes
No words for this one, Rayman is just epic
Sonic! Amazing but annoying mechanic of losing all your coins when you get hit
Lion king! has an unique mechanic of a growl status bar.
:)
These are all of the games that I looked at and the gave me a very overall idea of how game mechanics work!
Hopefully

I looked at shooting games and a special mechanic from Crash Bandicoot that I LOVE.
Crash Bandicoot has own racing game which is really cool. Mechanics of collecting boxes with a special item that allows you to waste the opponent.
But what I LOVE from Crash are the levels that allow you to mount little animals throughout the game that makes you have to play under pressure as it gives you much more speed and you cannot stop.
Looked at resident evil and some of its mechanics, not my type of game but has some nice double-player mechanics as well as ammo storage, etc.
Halo's another shooting game with awesome environment feature/mechanics as well as being able to play online and build you rank.

I also looked at other random kinds of games that have different mechanics to what I am used to seeing.
Famous Grand Theft Auto! With mechanics aimed to represent real life. The mechanic of being followed by the police is really nice. Not to mention piloting helicopters and driving tanks.
This is a really cool brazilian card game called Heroes and Vampires that I remembered that I used to play a long time ago. You have your own deck of cards and each one does something. It has a hitpoints system as well as many other mechanics.
Had to remember the old snake game. With the mechanics of growing more with special tokens found along the level. As well as the normal growing mechanic when eating the normal token.
I also remembered of pin pall. Crazy game with weird mechanics, but in the end they all kind of lead to the same thing which is adding points to your score. However, the mechanics created for combos also created around the idea of earning bigger score points are pretty cool.
Ninja turtles! A nice game with cool environment mechanics as well as other ones built around defeating bosses.
I looked at tony hawk (skating game) because it also has heaps of mechanics built around earning score points. Different control keys leading to different tricks.
Poker online! Unexpectedly (for me), it also has heaps of mechanics based around the betting system and the way the money flows.
Digimon is a game that has some really stupid mechanics of your digimon evolving to another random digimon depending on its status, but other things are pretty cool such as the battling mechanics
Also looked into mechanics from football games since it has so many. Dribbling, kicking, curved balls, kick strength, faults, etc.

Today I looked into games that similarly, you control them in a "front" view.
It is hard to explain, but once you see the pictures you will understand.
Here are a few examples:
Pokemon has many unique features built on top of mechanics, such as capturing pokemons as well as attacking with them.
Bomberman is also a very unique game with the mechanic of planting a bomb as well as collecting items, using power ups, etc.
Pacman is just classic, couldnt have missed it. A really good example of an under pressure game. The mechanic of monsters following you.
Runescape is a really cool RPG game where you have many attacking mechanics, as well as equipment, quests, magic, items, etc ones.
Starcraft also full of little mechanics and I actually never realised how complex it was until trying to break down its mechanics. The upgrading system in general is really nice as well as the theme, but the theme has nothing to do with its mechanics.
Tibia is quite similar to runescape but has a really hard mechanic of using runes when hunting as well as having to point your character towards the monster when conjugating a spell
Warcraft is quite similar to Starcraft on the way it is structured. However, it has really cool mechanics of creating a Hero and leveling him as well as gaining magic spell power that can be very powerful.

Another genre of games that I was looking into was fighting games. I looked into the following ones:
Bloody roar has an awesome mechanic where it allows you to turn your character into an ANIMAL which gives you much more powerful skills
Tekken has awesome special fighting moves that if you get it right it will create very high damage on the opponent.
I also looked into the ps1 Dragon Ball Z game because it has awesome mechanics. It allows you to spell magic attacks as well as have Kah-Me-Ha-Me-Ha battles where both players conjure it at the same time.
Street fighter is very oldschool but still awesome with its in-between-games bonuses where you can break down cars and do cool combos.
Mortal Kombat is famous for its very well known mechanic of doing a Fatality, where you can kill your opponent in a very elaborated way. Doesnt really suggest any environmental solutions, its just brutal, but it looks pretty cool.

So when thinking about game mechanics I decided to really open my mind to not just console video games, but to any game.
So keeping it very generalized I started looking at the following game genres:
- Racing Games:
In Grand prix I was able to identify a few nice mechanics such as damaged parts of the car during races as well as being able to choose your car parts depending on your needs for a specific kind of race.
Needs for speed is quite nice because it has car personalisation mechanics as well as map missions that lead you to different kinds of racing
Rock n roll racing has awesome mechanics of weapons you can grab to shoot your enemies and hopefully blow them up,
Top gear is another great one with the mechanic of having to refuel your car otherwise it will break down.

PJ 1 Research - Other Games
Another few games that remind me of Rayman's gameplay are Donkey Kong, Mario, Crash Bandicoot and Bit Trip Runner. They are all 2D but somestimes introduce the 3D aspect to it.
They are mostly my childhood games that haven stolen hundreds of hours off me.

Michel Ancel (creator and designer of Rayman) is also known for two other games. One of them being 'Beyond Good and Evil' and Peter Jackson's King Kong movie video game adaptation. They are both first person games and offer a really cool 3D gameplay. In my opinion, nothing even close to being as good as rayman but still cool games.

The game really drives my attention with all of its details and ridiculously elaborated scenarios and characters. The game comes to the point where it feels like you are just watching a cartoon and playing it at the same time. The game has several worlds and bosses and can be very difficult at times.

Rayman also has previous versions as mentioned before. They vary quite a lot between each other in terms of control and design. But mainly, it is a really cool game because even though it is most of the time 2D it always introduces 3D aspects to it.
