DSDN 112 - Interim [Storyboard/200 words]

200 words:

My interactive object will provide a unique experience that explores the hearing of the human being. The object has steel strings which are played through the movement of magnets. Sounds are generally created by vibrations, which are mostly a reaction to touch.
My object will go against the rules and create sound with no touch, just the movement of hands. This way, the sound created will be completely unexpected as there will be no touch involved. The object will look like a box made out of wood with the aim of amplifying the acoustic sound of the strings. The inside function of the magnets will be attached to a number of picks corresponding to the number of strings, which will be four. Each string will play a different note and all of them combined will create a musical chord. The sound can also be manipulated to lower and higher pitches through the use of real guitar machine heads that I will use to stretch the strings. The user will have to wear gloves which will also have magnets causing them to repel the magnets from the inside of the object and create the movement that creates the sound.
